Why Attend?

  • Earn CEUs - Qualify for continuing education credits through a practical, clinically focused curriculum.

For Whom?

Certified acupuncturists who wish to work in a palpation-based way. Some prior experience with Kiiko Matsumoto Style can be very helpful but is not required. Is this your first seminar with Kiiko Matsumoto? See the ‘please note’ below.

Focus on Neurology

Neurological disorders are among the most challenging conditions seen in clinical practice. Many patients seek acupuncture to improve quality of life, reduce symptoms, and support neurological recovery alongside conventional medical care.
During this two-day seminar, Kiiko Matsumoto will demonstrate her palpation-based approach to diagnosing and treating neurological disorders by treating real patients.

The seminar will focus on the treatment of neurological conditions, but the exact conditions treated will depend on the patients that are brought in by participants.

Practitioners are invited to bring in patients to be treated, some conditions that are eligible include:
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Essential tremor
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Bell’s palsy
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Post-stroke rehabilitation
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Sciatica and nerve entrapment syndromes
  • Migraine and neurological headaches
  • Vertigo and dizziness
  • Post-concussion syndrome
  • Muscle weakness
  • Numbness and tingling
  • Facial paralysis
  • Balance and coordination disorders
Acupuncture can often provide significant support for neurological patients. However, these cases are frequently complex and require continual reassessment. What should you do when progress slows? How much root treatment versus branch treatment is appropriate? Which palpation findings should guide your next treatment?
Kiiko’s palpation-based system provides practical answers to these questions. Rather than following fixed protocols, every treatment is tailored to the patient’s current presentation. Through abdominal and body palpation, Kiiko demonstrates how the body itself reveals treatment priorities and how practitioners can objectively monitor progress throughout the course of care.
As always, Kiiko teaches exactly as she practises in her own clinic. Every patient is different, every treatment evolves in real time, and every clinical decision is explained as she works.

FAQ

So, is this a course in Japanese acupuncture?

Yes and no.
Kiiko Matsumoto studied and graduated in Japan, and her main influences are from Japanese teachers. However, she possesses an extraordinary knowledge of the classics and demonstrates her interpretation of the Su Wen, Ling Shu, and Nan Jing directly on the patient.
This unique combination of traditional mastery and modern clinical application makes her teaching both deeply rooted and immediately applicable.

Teaching Style

This is not a traditional theoretical course.
Kiiko teaches exactly as she practises in her own clinic: treating real patients while explaining her clinical reasoning, palpation findings and point selection as the treatment unfolds.
There are no fixed protocols. Every patient is approached individually, allowing you to understand why each treatment decision is made and how to adapt your own treatments to complex clinical presentations.
You will leave with practical techniques that you can immediately apply in your own clinic.
