How to become a Shen-doctor

Working on the deepest level of healing

In the classical texts, the concept of the Shen Doctor or Heavenly Physician is described as the highest expression of medicine. Rather than focusing solely on physical symptoms, the Shen Doctor works at the level of the Shen: the consciousness, spirit and deeper emotional landscape of the patient.

According to this perspective, true healing takes place when the root cause of disease is addressed at the Shen level. To support this process, a practical “toolbox” can be developed for working with the non-physical aspects of health and illness.

A central part of this approach is formed by the 9 Heart Palaces, which correspond to the 9 types of heart pain. Combined with the Yin-Yang and Five Element classification of constitutional and temperament types, they provide a framework for understanding and treating the different areas of human experience that can weigh heavily on the heart and obstruct access to the Shen.

The Shen Doctor’s Toolbox

During this seminar, participants explore a range of methods and perspectives, including:
  • Working with transpersonal and subconscious aspects of the psyche
  • Exploring the Hun-Po (dream body) through the method of amplification
  • Concepts from Inner Alchemy (Nei Dan) for transforming emotions into higher emotional qualities
  • Using the Dao De Jing as a therapeutic guide
  • Applying strategic thinking based on Sun Zi’s Art of War

Bringing It All Together

The final step is learning how to integrate these different approaches within clinical practice. Through understanding the deeper meaning and function of acupuncture points, the practitioner learns how to select the right point at the right moment.

The goal is not only to relieve symptoms, but to help patients reconnect with their full potential and move forward with greater clarity, purpose and inner freedom.
