Acupuncture for Cancer Survivors
Restoring Health and Resilience after Treatment

Cancer treatment is over! Life can go back to normal… or can’t it? Many cancer survivors continue to experience long-term side effects from their treatment. More than 25% face persistent symptoms such as fatigue, pain, hot flashes, neuropathy, lymphedema, and emotional distress. Too often, they are told that nothing can be done, and they must learn to live with these challenges.
“Cancer treatment may end, but its impact continues.
Acupuncture can help bridge that gap.”
Acupuncture is an effective, evidence-informed, non-pharmacological intervention that can help cancer survivors manage the physical, emotional, and social consequences of their treatment. It reduces symptom burden, supports coping, and enhances long-term health and well-being. Many survivors report: "Acupuncture has given me my life back."

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for acupuncturists who want to expand their expertise in working with cancer survivors. Whether you already treat patients with a history of cancer or are looking to incorporate oncology care into your practice, this course provides the knowledge and skills to do so with confidence and competence.

What will you learn?

This two-day course explores the complex challenges cancer survivors face and how acupuncture can play a crucial role in their recovery.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
  • Recognize common late and long-term effects of cancer treatments.
  • Use acupuncture and moxibustion to effectively support cancer survivors.
  • Address trauma and emotional distress related to cancer treatment.
  • Develop a personalized treatment strategy tailored to each patient’s needs.
  • Help patients build resilience and improve their long-term well-being.
“The body is more than the sum of its symptoms;
treat the whole person, not just the disease.”
This course is taught by Beverley de Valois, an experienced acupuncturist and researcher with over 25 years of expertise in cancer survivorship. She is the author of Acupuncture and Cancer Survivorship: Recovery, Renewal, and Transformation, the first peer-reviewed, evidence-based book on acupuncture in the supportive care of people post-cancer treatment.
