Japanese Moxibustion (okyu)

About the seminar

Japanese moxibustion (okyu) includes different techniques, all focused on achieving a quick and pleasant recovery of health. Moxibustion is known in the West as a technique of Chinese medicine but it should be noted that under the Japanese approach, moxa techniques have reached a unique therapeutic refinement level. This makes them a very attractive therapy for anyone wishing to optimize their treatment strategies and resources in any area.

Introduction Seminar

The introduction seminar provides a broad view of this thrilling field. The techniques of okyu can be graduated from very soft (subtle techniques) to very strong (physical and structural techniques). On the subtle side, the heat of the okyu is understood under an energy concept (Qi supplementation or dispersion) and not thermal. One good example is the chinetsukyu (indirect technique), developed to work on the surface level, directly affecting the Wei Qi. On the other hand, there is the tonetsukyu (direct technique), perhaps the most special moxibustion technique that exists, as it involves the application of very tiny cones the size of a grain of rice at specific points.

Technique and Sensitivity

This technique allows for the regulation of the energetic, blood, and lymphatic situation of the tissues by working on the so-called 'living' points. Prioritizing the development of manual sensitivity in the search for 'living points' and by applying the tiny cones of high-quality mugwort, a level of efficiency without equal is achieved. One of its particularities lies in the understanding of the treatment, aimed at addressing the situation that the patient suffers in real time. There are no assumptions or speculations, but clear evidence of the current situation and the changes being caused by the treatment.

Benefits and Outcomes

Through this type of moxibustion, we stimulate the immune system and achieve a rebalancing throughout the meridian system, which in turn will regulate any organic or functional disorder. The remission of pain and the recovery of functionality in complicated cases is usually very spectacular for its speed and comfort.

Skills After the Seminar

After the seminar, students will be able to apply the most popular techniques of Japanese moxibustion.

About the teacher

Felip Caudet has been in practice as an acupuncturist and physiotherapist since 1999 and specializes in Japanese moxibustion. He ceased needling practice to focus solely on moxibustion in 2012. He studied with masters Tetsuya Fukushima and Hideo Shinma (son of Master Fukaya). Currently, Felip is recognized in the line of transmission of Fukaya Style of Moxibustion due to his developments and contributions to the style.

Revolutionary Contributions
Felip developed a revolutionary moxibustion method called the Kinseikyu method (Balance Posture with Moxibustion). He has published several books in Spanish, some translated into other languages, on moxibustion and has contributed articles to international journals such as the North American Journal of Oriental Medicine and the Osaka Shinkyu Journal.

Global Teaching and Clinical Activity
Nowadays, Felip combines his clinical activity in Spain with teaching around the world, including in Japan, Brazil, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, the UK, Denmark, Italy, and Portugal.
